Introducing Unimatrix Zero, my lovely dekstop editing PC I treated myself to just before Christmas. My laptop was getting really cronky and I missed having three screens as I did when I used to work in London and it took forever to render anything out on my laptop, so it had to be done. This little baby just eats video.
Nice to pop home and catch up with everyone, not really a Christmas person so have taken my holiday in the first two weeks of the new year. Not that I am a scrooge but just find Christmas excess hard to stomach, people buying things they don’t need with money they don’t have and all that.
Swansea doesn’t change much, one of the reasons i couldn’t live here, lovely to go home and catch up with family but there’s not much else to do.
Hopefully the train journey home tomorrow will be as easy and painless as the ones getting here from Brighton.
Not been on here for a while as a result of some changes I made last year to my career and work habits. I decided I didn’t want to spend all my time filming and editing so went back to doing some temping work and then eventually took a full time job at the company I work for now. Trying to pursue the work as a full time job was just taking the enjoyment out of it for me and became more about constantly looking for the next work and less about the work itself.
Luckily I am now working for a great company with job security and flexibility in my work hours so I can hopefully get the balance right. I want to spend my free time filming and editing work I enjoy as opposed to work I have to do to make a living. To this end I have re-written my biog fresh for 2018 and have a plan now for what I want to achieve in the next 12 months.
I moved to Brighton with a distinct goal for how I wanted to live my life and the type of filming and editing projects I wanted to work on, there is so much great stuff going on in Brighton, it’s time to invest in a new camera and get back out there and discover it, I am really looking forward to the year ahead.
So while waiting for Amazon to deliver some filters and a blue tooth speaker today have been watching female rap videos and cleaning my camera in preparation for the shoot tomorrow.
Out and about from lunch time till the early hours, three locations, one night time bar section and no doubt several costume changes by the singer… can’t wait. #steffandoesrapvideos
So popping out today to meet with a Brighton based female rapper to discuss the possibility of collaborating on a music video. Looking forward to doing some new work with people. #meetingsandmusicvideos
So now I am all settled in Brighton is time to get on with some work and while I am on the hunt for new DJs, singers, bands and other creative people , I am starting work on editing stuff I enjoy which includes music video mashups.
So I finally decided to bite the bullet and move to Brighton. It was for several reasons in the end, getting a little bit bored of how crowded London is becoming and how expensive and I wanted to save as much money as possible to give me more flexibility for my freelance work. Been down here a week, beautifully sunny and literally a breath of fresh air.
